Not Much Today

Sorry for the late post. We have been having trouble getting Sadie Wen to fall asleep these last several nights. It has been a constant battle every night and it doesn't help that we are all in the same room.

Today was another free day. Our paperwork was sent to the American Consulate today, so tomorrow we have the swearing in ceremony.

We did have to reconfirm our flights from Guangzhou to Hong Kong yesterday and we found out that our travel agency (Tempo) cancelled Sadie Wen's ticket. Not sure why? It's now Monday night at 9:52pm and the travel agency still is not open. I'm a little bit annoyed (actually a lot).

Sorry, no pictures or videos today. I tried to do a video but unfortunately, Sadie Wen woke up, so now we have to fight to get her asleep again.

Keith, I thought you were the pro at getting her to sleep! Have fun getting sworn in. Hope the ticket stuff gets all worked out. Won't be long until Sadie Wen gets to sleep in her own nursery, and she'll love it in there.

Kim and Keith,

Try not to fret over the trouble that Sadie Wen is having sleeping. (Easy for me to say, right?!) She will likely have another adjustment period when you get her home. She most likely just needs comfort. Have you asked the other families with babies from her orphanage how they are getting their daughters to sleep? Katie and Tessa both slept with me in my bed while in China. On top of me even! They just wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to leave them. Sadie Wen seems to be adjusting so well. Night time may just be a time when she needs some reassurance. Everything is still so new to her. Sounds silly because obviously being a part of your family is so much better for her but she may be grieving the routine and security of the life she had. Soon enough you will be her routine and her security. I know sleepless nights are taxing. We will pray for all of you to get better rest and to get and stay healthy. Can't wait to see you in Nashville!!

Sorry to hear about Sadie Wen's sleeplessness. Again, as parents, we have all been through similar situations. It will get better in time, trust me. Holly was always a tough one to get down at bedtime, but no real problems now. So there is hope!! Also, sorry to hear about the ticket mix up. God will work it all out. He did not bring you this far to abandon you. I know it is difficult not to worry, but He will work it out. Hope Kim is feeling better and is able to get out there and do her shopping thing!! You all have fun and know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. Hang in there!!

hey ya'll
i sure have enjoyed reading the blog, i think ive learned more about adopting from your story than from any of my other friends who've gone to china! I hope Kim gets to feeling better, and i hope you stay well and especially sadie. sounds like you are really being baptized by fire into parenthood but then again aren't we all? I think you are doing a great job if you are keeping you have time to take care of everyone, still have time to post with a sense of humor;) I wouldn't even worry about getting sadie on a schedule til ya'll are back in nashville. I"m sure it will be a lot easier then in your familiar surroundings and things won't be changing every day for everyone. It will be a lot easier to get her to sleep then too. oh here's some tips for the squirmy diapers - if you have a little flashlight, like a pen light or a key chain light, hold it in your mouth with the light on kind of shake your head around so the light dances around her face or if you have a cloth like a burp cloth or cloth diaper throw it over her face and let her play peek a boo with you while you are changing her. Jackson use to love both these and the idea was distracting baby at the top end while you change the bottom end. And it helps to change the diaper at the speed of light.... you've probably learned that;) well i'm working on putting hair on the sadie sketch this week so i'll send it to you so you have when you get back to nashville... just a couple more days now!
